Farewell…

To my beloved aunt.

To woman who sacrificed her own self to the end…
To woman who fought till end against illness to the last moments…
To woman who said goodbye before leaving us & this life…
To woman who wasn’t happy in her life because of traditions & culture…
To woman who supported her family by her own job…
To woman who never tasted happy moments in her life she was a victim of society, painful, sadness, depression…

You lived with pain on this earth, I know you are getting rest now…but, I will miss you my aunt, not just me, all of us, I know you weren’t happy here, you suffered, you were living in sadness, I can’t delete your last pictures when you were dying…my heart aches at that time & now, I wish that I did something more to help you to heal you, it is very hard to see you in that bed laying down with your hard breathe waiting to go on a trip; a trip that took you away, didn’t wait & we couldn't do something to bring you back to us, what a loss!!!

I can’t stop my tears, but I promise you that I will always remember you; when you were talking, walking, smiling with few moments, when you were asking about me, when you were…

You always said “woman is wronged here” you couldn’t marry; you gave your life to others, you were the one who took care of very small tiny things, you were responsible to the end, you were…

It is early you left us, but I know you want to rest from this life, you want some peace, some condolence…

I can still smell you my aunt, your scent everywhere in your house & here in my mind, your clothes, your touches…

Your dreams gone with you too, your planning, your wishes…

I love you my aunt, we all love you, I’m thinking of you now, and what are you doing? How is your new place? No one will take your rights there…

Do you know there is a huge emptiness in your house now? Your bed & room? Every corner in that house is crying after you…

I wish you can hear me now, I will rise from where you stop, I will take your dreams & added to mine, I will fight for every woman rights, I will support what you couldn’t support, I will be happy for you, I will live for you, I will stand & talk, I will say my thoughts, I will speak to the end, I will think in my mind & heart, I will transfer my feelings & express myself, I will say “NO” when it needs to say it, I will remember when you put other happiness in front of your happiness...

She passed away on 8/17/2010.

Goodbye my aunt; Jesus mercy your soul &I know a fact that we will meet someday…

Naziha Dulaimi.

Who is Naziha Dulaimi ?

-She was an Iraqi woman, the first Iraqi woman who gained such a high position in Iraq during 1959  as Ministry of Municipalities, she was a head of Women's Rights Union & not only that she was the first woman in Arab world gained that higher position!!!

-So, in 50s Iraq was great more than than now, WHY?
- It shouldn't be different ?
Naziha Dulaimi & Abdl Kareem Qasim
& other politician people in 1959.
-Women were taking a good role in our society or at least trying very hard to taking their roles & taking the chances, we were the first in Arab world, where we are now???

-Does governments have a huge effect on women's rights?

-Does religions play a big role in women's rights? but, weren't the same religions in Iraq at that time I mean in 50s, Muslims, Christian & other minority? By the way, Jews were there too!

The question is : Who is responsible of that bad changing? Iraqi governments? U.S & British governments?
Iraqi people? Civil organizations (NGO)?
